A Creative Journey in 3D Animation
Throughout my academic journey, I have dedicated myself to building a robust foundation in 3D animation and visual storytelling at ICAT College of Design and Media. My technical repertoire is built upon industry-standard tools, including Autodesk Maya, Unreal Engine, Substance Painter, and ZBrush, which allow me to bridge the gap between abstract imagination and digital reality.
My final-year project, "The Dual Justice," represents the culmination of my technical growth and my evolving philosophy as a storyteller. It is a short animated film that combines technical execution with a strong narrative idea.
Concept and Inspiration: A Study in Duality
The core idea of The Dual Justice revolves around emotional depth and moral conflict. I was inspired by films like Mr. Mallanna and Savyasachi.
- From Mr. Mallanna, I explored the idea of social justice and a hidden identity helping the needy.
- From Savyasachi, I drew inspiration from psychological complexity and dual personality.
By blending these ideas, I aimed to create a narrative that explores the moral gray areas of justice, where right and wrong are not always clearly defined.
The Narrative: A Lawyer's Reflection
The story follows an honest lawyer who fights for justice within the legal system. Meanwhile, a mysterious vigilante helps people by targeting criminals at night. While some see him as a criminal, others consider him a hero.
The turning point comes when the lawyer discovers the shocking truth—he himself is the vigilante. This moment reveals the idea of "Dual Justice," where two opposing identities exist within the same person.
3D Animation Workflow & Technical Execution
1. Modeling and Texturing
Using ZBrush, I created detailed character models of the lawyer's weariness and the vigilante's intensity. Substance Painter helped add realistic textures, making the characters feel grounded and believable.
2. Environment and Rendering
I used Unreal Engine for real-time rendering, allowing better control over lighting and composition.
- Lighting: High-contrast shadows were used to reflect the dual nature of the character.
- Composition: The lawyer's world appears structured, while the vigilante's world feels unpredictable.
3. Challenges and Learning
Throughout the project, I faced technical and creative challenges. These moments helped me improve my problem-solving skills and understand the importance of planning, patience, and continuous improvement.

Learning Experience & Showcase Feedback
This project has been the most valuable learning experience of my academic career. I realized that strong visuals alone are not enough, clear storytelling and emotional connection are equally essential.
I am grateful for the opportunity to present my work at the ICAT Graduation Showcase held at Mantri Square Mall. The positive feedback from faculty and visitors was highly motivating and reinforced my confidence as an emerging animator.
Artistic Growth & Career Vision
"The Dual Justice" is an important milestone in my journey as an animator. It has strengthened my passion and given me clarity about my future in the industry.
As I step into the professional world, I carry an important lesson, just like justice, storytelling is often about perspective, and the most powerful stories come from the truths we least expect to discover.
