Introduction: A New Way to Celebrate Birthdays
In today's world, celebrations are often associated with loud music, bright decorations, and large gatherings. However, not everyone connects with this style of celebration. This project was inspired by the idea that birthdays can also be calm, meaningful, and emotionally rich experiences.
While children's birthdays are widely celebrated with themes and decorations, there is a clear gap when it comes to adult celebrations that focus on elegance and personal connection. This led to the creation of SERIVANA, a premium adult birthday experience brand that reimagines how birthdays are celebrated.

Brand Concept: "Not a Party. An Experience."
SERIVANA is not just a brand but a concept that transforms birthdays into refined and memorable experiences. The core idea is captured in the tagline:
"Not a Party. An Experience."
Instead of loud visuals and heavy decorations, the brand emphasizes:
- Minimal styling
- Soft lighting
- Emotional storytelling
The goal is to create intimate celebrations where individuals can reflect, connect, and enjoy their special day in a peaceful and elegant environment.
Naming & Visual Identity
The name SERIVANA is derived from Serene and Nirvana, symbolizing calmness, balance, and inner celebration.
The visual identity reflects this philosophy through:
- Warm beige, ivory, muted brown, charcoal, and soft grey tones
- Elegant serif typography for branding
- Clean sans-serif fonts for readability
This approach aligns with the principles taught in the UI/UX and Design Courses at ICAT, where aesthetics and user experience go hand in hand.

Design Approach and Process
The design process began with research into current birthday trends and user preferences. A clear gap was identified—while children's birthday services are common, very few cater to adults seeking a sophisticated experience.
Based on this, the brand identity was developed using:
- Neutral colour palettes
- Minimal layouts
- Luxury-inspired aesthetics
- Soft, warm photography styles
Every decision was made to reflect elegance, calmness, and emotional depth.
Work in Progress (WIP)
The project started with moodboards and visual references inspired by:
- Luxury interiors
- Minimal lifestyle photography
- Editorial design
Multiple logo variations were explored before finalizing a design that reflects simplicity and timeless elegance. The final logo focuses on refined letterforms and balanced spacing, avoiding unnecessary complexity.
Behind the Scenes (BTS): Service Design Thinking
A key aspect of SERIVANA is its service experience, not just visual branding.
The entire customer journey was mapped:
- Booking and consultation
- Personalized setup
- Celebration experience
- Memory capture
This approach reflects the practical learning from Design and Media Programs at ICAT, where students are trained to think beyond visuals and design complete user experiences.
Mockups were also created for:
- Invitations
- Packaging
- Printed materials

Final Outcome: Brand Applications
The final deliverables included a complete branding system:
- Logo and identity guidelines
- Colour palette and typography
- Business cards and brochures
- Social media creatives
- Packaging design
Key Highlight: Packaging Experience
The packaging was designed to create a premium unboxing experience using:
- Soft textures
- Neutral tones
- Minimal branding
A personalized thank-you card adds emotional value, enhancing the overall experience.
Conclusion: Designing Meaningful Celebrations
SERIVANA demonstrates how thoughtful design can transform everyday moments into meaningful experiences. It proves that celebrations don't always need to be loud or extravagant—they can be quiet, elegant, and deeply personal.
I am grateful to ICAT College of Design and Media for the opportunity to present SERIVANA at the Graduation Showcase held at Mantri Square Mall. Showcasing my project to a wider audience was a rewarding experience, and the positive feedback from faculty, professionals, and visitors was incredibly encouraging. The concept of calm, elegant adult celebrations was especially appreciated for its uniqueness and real-world potential.
This project reinforces the idea that design has the power to shape not just visuals, but also emotions and memories.
